WELCOME TO BRIERFIELD ACTION
IN THE COMMUNITY

Brierfield Action in the Community (BAIC) does exactly what our name suggests; providing well-known and much-loved activities for all those who live and work in our town.

We’re based in the heart of Brierfield town centre, serving as an accessible and approachable resource for all people in the town. Our hub is our very own warm and welcoming café, serving coffee, cakes and companionship to anyone who comes through our doors.

If you read about any of our projects in our blogs, social media posts and case studies, you’ll know that we like to talk about our ‘eyes on the ground’ approach to all of our work. This means that we love to get out and about in our own community, to find and to question the issues that people in our town may face, so that we can do our best to put forward projects, interventions and activities to engage, educate and empower our community.

East Lancashire is a diverse community, and although this brings culture to the many towns within the area, it can also bring issues that need a little help to sort out. We like to think that we can offer something for everyone, and as well as running funded projects, we welcome the opportunity for people living and working in Brierfield and the surrounding areas to approach us with their thoughts, ideas and issues for drop-in sessions and future activities.

In terms of what we’ve successfully offered in the past, and what we continue to offer as we enter an impressive 17th year as a registered charity, we offer something for all ages, using the building blocks necessary in the quest to broaden horizons for individuals, families and the community as a whole. Everything we do operates from a grassroots level, and though our projects are varied, they all share a common theme here at BAIC, and that’s the prospect of growth and guidance across all generations. We promote social, emotional and personal development in the local community, where everyone feels valued, and everyone has a voice. Promoting meaningful relationships, we ensure that those we work with feel safe, included and valued as members of the community.

All of our projects and all of our drop-in sessions emphasise individuality, yet we have built a reputation for promoting community cohesion at the heart of all we do.
