Over the last three years Brierfield Action in the Community has worked in partnership with Participation Works to deliver Project Pride across Brierfield and Reedley. We have received another 3years big lottery grant to deliver the project again but with new outcomes. And following on from the delivery of our project, consultation with beneficiaries/stakeholders and feedback from external evaluation undertaken by Pulse Regeneration Ltd we have highlighted the following areas of delivery
- That there is limited support/provision available for young people aged between 6-19 years.
- There is a lack of support/provision and issues of social isolation for older people.
- And a lack of community cohesion amongst different groups in the area.
In addition there is a lack of community facilities that provide information, opportunities for social engagement and training/job opportunities.
The project will aim to address the above issues by developing the use of our centre in order to offer a safe friendly place where beneficiaries can meet/socialize, improve their quality of life and overcome the feelings of social isolation felt by many older people. Outreach activities will be delivered with key partners, encouraging young people and families who are at risk to engage and participate in workshops/meetings to address their needs. Partners will be able to sign post their clients to us for any extra support.
